California Viagra Skin Cancer Lawsuit

Pfizer, the pharmaceutical giant had a runaway hit on their hands when they developed and sold their blockbuster drug, Viagra. Now, allegations are surfacing in many Viagra melanoma lawsuits, claiming that Pfizer failed to warn patients and doctors about the melanoma skin cancer link associated with the erectile dysfunction medication.

Viagra Melanoma Lawsuits on the rise

Recently, two lawsuits were filed in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, in which the plaintiffs allege that Pfizer knew or should have known about the melanoma skin cancer risk associated with Viagra for years.

According to Amador Herrara’s claim, Herrara was diagnosed with melanoma after using Viagra for many years.

Herrara has undergone many surgeries and alleges that he must remain watchful for the reappearance of the deadly skin cancer.

Another plaintiff, Dennis Andrews, filed a Viagra lawsuit, claiming that he developed malignant melanoma after using Viagra for many years. Andrews also underwent many surgeries and skin grafts. According to Andrews claims that must carefully monitor for signs of the melanoma skin cancer’s return.

Xarelto is a popular blood-thinning drug or anticoagulant made by Bayer Health Care and Janssen Pharmaceuticals (a subsidiary of Johnson & Johnson). Xarelto, Pradaxa and Eliquis, are the new generation of anticoagulants that have been advertised as requiring less testing and monitoring than coumadin for stroke prevention.

Common problem with Anticoagulants

Unfortunately, like all anticoagulants, Xarelto has an internal bleeding risk for which there is currently no effective antidote. Thousands of adverse event reports regarding bleeding side effects, including reports of deadly complications, have been filed with the FDA over this blockbuster medication.

Viagra and Melanoma Cancer Risk

According to the latest medical research, the blockbuster erectile dysfunction drug Viagra may significantly increase men’s risk of developing melanoma. Melanoma is a lethal form of skin cancer, if not treated early.

Viagra Medical Study: 84% Risk Increase in Melanoma

Boston researchers, found that men taking Viagra were up to 84% more likely to be diagnosed with the skin cancer when compared to men who do not use the drug. It is postulated that Viagra has a direct effect on the body’s ability to combat skin cancer.

What is Lipitor?

Lipitor (atorvastatin) is a statin-based cholesterol drug manufactured by the Pfizer subsidiary Warner-Lambert. The cholesterol drug is a best seller and has achieved blockbuster status. Lipitor has produced more than $125 billion in sales before the patent expired in 2011. Now off patent, several generic Lipitor versions are available.
