Timothy Wilkes from Ohio, filed a testosterone drug personal injury and product liability lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio. According to Wilkes, the side effects of the popular testosterone replacement medication, AndroGel caused a deep vein thrombosis or a blood clot in his legs that traveled to the lung, causing a pulmonary embolism.

There are almost 3,500 testosterone lawsuits filed in the federal court system, alleging injuries caused by the side effects of testosterone drugs, including AndroGel, Testim, Axiron, Androderm and other variations of gels, patches, pills and injections.

AbbVie, the manufacturer of AndroGel, is exposed to another product liability lawsuit. Kimberly Dula, from Georgia claims that the company failed to warn about the heart risks from AndroGel. Dula claims that he suffered three heart attacks as a result of using the testosterone gel.

49 year old Dula filed the complaint recently in March, in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. There are now several Androgel lawsuits filed throughout the U.S., claiming that the drug manufacturer failed to warn about the risk of heart attacks, strokes, deep vein thrombosis, pulmonary embolism blood clots and wrongful death.

According to Bayer, the pharmaceutical giant has paid out more than $1.6 billion in settlements over Yasmin and Yaz blood clot embolism injuries. The German drug manufacturer is exposed to thousands of product liability drug claims that allege that women suffered severe blood clots due to dangerous side effects of the birth control pills. Bayer has been settling these injury cases over the past 2 years.
